The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s (TESDA) on Wednesday said it recently provided free assessment and certification services to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Malaysia.

The assessments covered several in-demand qualifications, including Hairdressing NC II, Barista NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Bartending NC II, Cookery NC II and Dressmaking NC II.

TESDA, in a news release, said 81 OFWs earned their national certificates (NCs) through this initiative conducted partnership with the Migrant Workers Office.

TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez said the NCs are a key to opportunities.

He added that the OFWs’ distance should not be a hindrance in recognizing their skills. Thus, TESDA brings assessment and certification services abroad.

Similar activities will be conducted in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in the coming months, TESDA said. (PNA)
