A PHP30-million multi-purpose gymnasium and dormitory here were inaugurated Tuesday that will serve as the Regional Training Center of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Senator Joel Villanueva led the inauguration of the new facilities that will benefit the would-be trainees of TESDA from far-flung municipalities in this province.

“This is just a dream. Pangarap lang namin ito dati. Libre ang mangarap at masarap ang mangarap pero itong gymnasium na ito at dormitory ay hindi nanatiling pangarap (It was only our dream before. It is free and nice to dream and this dream has now been realized),” Villanueva said in his message during the event.

“These can be used by our scholars for quality training here in TESDA,” he added.

TESDA-3 Regional Director Balmyrson Valdez said the fund for the project was appropriated under the General Appropriations Act of 2019 sponsored by Villanueva and implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Central Luzon.

He said the dormitory is a mini-hotel that will cater to the guests and trainees of the center.

With a total floor area of 257 square meters, Valdez said the dormitory will also serve as an assessment center and training venue for domestic works.

The multi-purpose gymnasium, on the other hand, has a total dimension of 708 square meters and will serve as a recreational facility and venue for major events, both provincial and regional.

“I thanked personally Sen. Villanueva for his continuous support to TESDA and these two projects will be the beginning of the new phase of instruction in our community,” Valdez added.

Meanwhile, Governor Daniel R. Fernando, who was represented by his brother Boyet Ramirez, thanked TESDA for its support to the Bulacan residents.

“Ipagpatuloy po natin ang pagtataguyod ng matapat at mapagkalingang paglilingkod (Let us continue the promotion of an honest and caring service),” he said.

Inside the dormitory are an executive suite, deluxe room, lobby and domestic work lecture area, and Domestic Work NC II Assessment Center and pantry area while the gymnasium, which is fully airconditioned, has a retractable basketball goal. (PNA)
