The La Union Surfing Break, highlighting the province’s coastal attractions and local culture, is scheduled to run from Oct. 25 to Nov. 1.

According to the provincial government, the towns of Agoo, Bacnotan, and San Juan will host a series of activities for the event.

“The provincial government of La Union assured the host municipalities of continued logistical and financial support to strengthen their capacity to implement planned activities for the La Union Surfing Break 2026,” it said in a statement Thursday.

Activities in Agoo town will include outdoor recreation, local food, sports, and entertainment.

The lineup of activities includes the La Union Agkaysa RC 4×4, Agoo Banchetto, Giant Beach Volleyball, free banca rides, a sandcastle-making competition, live band performances, a beach party, and a cleanup drive, all of which are mostly to be held at the Agoo Eco Park in barangays Sta. Rita West and Sta. Rita Central.

In Bacnotan town, a mix of surf, entertainment and artistic showcases, featuring an Eco Boot Camp, free surf clinic, Rescuelympics, foam party, surfboard painting competition, and battle of the bands, will be held.

In San Juan town, a local surfing competition, Pawe-can Race, Glow Run, a music festival, and a surf art installation will take place, culminating in a finale concert.

“Through the Surfing Break, the province highlights its local destinations, homegrown businesses, and cultural experiences while advancing efforts to protect its natural resources,” the provincial government stated.

In preparation for the event, the municipalities are finalizing their traffic management plans, safety and security protocols, and designated parking areas.

Hotels and other accommodation establishments are also preparing to accommodate the expected increase in tourist arrivals during the festivities. (PNA)
