The state-run Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) conferred on Thursday an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Institutional Development and Management–Honoris Causa on First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos for her valuable contribution to the country and the SKSU community.

In a statement Friday, the SKSU, led by president Samson Molao, said the honorary degree was conferred upon individuals for outstanding achievements in their field and for exemplary service to the public.

“The honoree is a lawyer and a professor, an advocate of education, culture, arts, and tradition. Moreover, she is always a staunch supporter of education,” the state university said.

Araneta-Marcos was also awarded as the first “adopted daughter” of SKSU.

The statement also noted that the First Lady strongly believes that everyone has the potential to become a top-notch lawyer if provided with the necessary guidance and support.

The SKSU described the First Lady as an active believer in the preservation of Filipino culture through continuous documentation and research, and a patron of the arts.

The First Lady is one of the Board of Trustees of the Asian Cultural Council that advocates for the advancement of international dialogue, understanding, and respect through cultural exchange activities in Asia and the United States. (PNA)
