Senator Imee Marcos on Sunday led the distribution of fortified nutribun in this town and in Santiago City as she embarked on a three-month feeding program to counter malnutrition among children aged 3 to 5.

She vowed to continue the nutribun program of her late father President Ferdinand Marcos (FM) Sr. who initiated it during his term.

Nutribun is a bread product used in elementary school feeding programs in the country to combat child malnutrition.

At the Isabela State University-Echague gymnasium here, the senator led the distribution of assistance to individuals in crisis situations (AICS) from the social welfare department for the 2,000 students who received PHP5,000 cash each.

In Santiago City, Marcos led the AICS distribution to 2,000 tricycle operators and drivers with PHP3,000 cash each.

She was later cheered and wished good health and more blessings by supporters as blew her cake’s candle in her early November 12 birthday celebration during her stops at the gymnasium here and at the city hall in Santiago City.

Marcos also gave toys, and gifts to children and gave ceremonial gifts, flowers, and cakes to her fellow senior citizens who were celebrating their birth anniversaries for this month.

She later led a boodle fight with about 3,000 local officials and workers, senior citizens, children, and birthday celebrators. (PNA)
