Some 600 social workers, government employees and senior citizens were given their first dose of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine during the two-day inoculation under the Department of Health’s (DOH) “ResBakuna” program at the SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown mall on Wednesday and Thursday.

Gertrudes Candaroma, 77, said she felt relieved after receiving the Sinovac-produced Coronavac.

“Now, I feel that I have the shield. Some of my children are front-liners so I believe this will be a protection for me. Unlike in other vaccination sites, this place is well-ventilated and we are thankful for the accommodation to us,” she said.

On the other hand, 63-year-old Eutiguio Addun, said he also believes the vaccine would shield him from the dreaded virus.

He lauded the city government for tapping the mall as one of the venues for inoculation, being a convenient site.

“The vaccination is done in minutes. It is also good that the venue for their vaccination is comfortable rather than conducting it in open gymnasium where one is not at ease,” he added.

Among those vaccinated were personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and Cagayan Provincial Jail.

Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the vaccination site inside the mall is safe, having undergone thorough inspections and approval by the Department of Health and the city government. (PNA)
