Aside from its medical front-liners, the Philippine National Police (PNP) wants all of its personnel under its Joint Task Force Covid Shield to be vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“We are recommending that the inclusion of the deployed JTF personnel in the priority of the vaccination program if possible,” said PNP chief, Gen. Debold Sinas, said during the televised briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte Wednesday night.

Sinas, who earlier contracted Covid-19, said this is to help protect the task force’s personnel who are now manning the checkpoints to enforce movement restrictions in the National Capital Region and the nearby provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal known as ‘NCR Plus’ from March 22 to April 4.

He added that the PNP has established 52 quarantine control points (QCPs) to restrict the movement of an unauthorized person going in and out of the NCR.

“Additional nine QCPs were established along SLEX (Southern Luzon Expressway) and NLEX (Northern Luzon Expressway) within NCR area to restrict the movement and monitor the movement of unauthorized personnel,” he added.

Of the 52 established quarantine control points, the PNP has 27 control points in Bulacan; 19 in Laguna; four in Cavite; and two in Rizal provinces.

Sinas added that a total of 3,652 personnel were deployed to man the 61 QCPs in the ‘NCR Plus’ round the clock.

As of March 24, the number of PNP personnel vaccinated for Covid-19 was placed at 2,677.

“Despite some challenges and limitations, the PNP is very proud to say that we have done our best and accomplished a lot of breakthroughs and milestones. We have shown time and again that with the aid of Almighty and by working together with other agencies, inspiring each other and subordinating personnel interest for the attainment of common visions and goals, joint objectives, and interest of our organization and country, we could achieve greater things,” Sinas said.
