We’re in for another Era!

After months of back and forth of teasing and leaving hints for her fans, Taylor Swift finally revealed her upcoming 12th studio album: The Life of a Showgirl.

The internet was sent into a frenzy when a clip shared on August 12 by Travis and Jason Kelce’s Podcast, New Heights, shows the record-breaking star revealing a blurred out cover art of the album.

The full episode aired at 7 P.M. ET on August 13, where she sat down together with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and talked about her new album, giving fans a rare peak of her music and relationship with Travis.

Now that the announcement is official, fans have finally connected the dots from all the sneaky nods the pop star has been subtly dropping for months. From cryptic social media messages to color coded moments during concerts, Swifties have figured that The Life of a Showgirl has been there the whole time.

Here’s what we know so far:

When will it be released:

The album is set to release on October 3. “It’s easy to remember. It’s 10/3. Still annoying. Always gonna try to force a 13 into the situation,” Taylor joked.

Months before this, fans have speculated the release of her album was coming sooner. In May, she posted a letter on her website about her Masters, she said “I was thiiiiiiiiiiiis close” —with 12 Is— which fans believed to be linked with her album release.

The Album Art:

On an Instagram post, Taylor revealed the cover art for her album. Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the star is seen on a bathtub wearing a bedazzled top surrounded with turquoise lighting.

“This represents my night. When I’m on tour, the same day everyday, every single day. And my day ends with me in a bathtub. I wanted to sort of glamorize all the different aspects of how that tour felt.” Taylor explained.

Tracks in the album:

Also posted on her Instagram the 12 tracks that the album will feature:

  1. The Fate of Ophelia
  2. Elizabeth Taylor
  3. Opalite
  4. Father Figure
  5. Eldest Daughter
  6. Ruin The Friendship
  7. Actually Romantic
  8. Wi$h Li$t
  9. Wood
  10. CANCELLED!
  11. Honey
  12. The Life Of A Showgirl (featuring Sabrina Carpenter)

What to expect:

As the anticipation for the album rises, Taylor reveals what her goals for the albums were. “My main goals were melodies so infectious, that you’re almost angry at it. And melodies that are just as vivid and crisp and focused and completely intentional.” Taylor said.

The album is expected to be more fun and pop, a complete 180 from her previous album “The Tortured Poets Department”.

She also revealed that she will be working with Max Martin and Shellback. They previously worked on several hits notably “We Are Never Getting Back Together”, “22”, “I Knew You Were Trouble”, “Shake It Off”, “Blank Space”, “Style”, and “Ready For It.”

“And so basically, we’ve never actually made an album before where it’s just the three of us. There’s no other collaborators. It’s just the three of us making a focused album…It felt like catching lightning in a bottle, honestly. We hadn’t worked together in like seven or eight years.” Swift stated. “They’re just geniuses in different avenues, in different ways.”

The Color Orange

On the last day of her Era’s Tour, Taylor was seen exiting through an orange door which Swifties theorized to be linked with the new album. The singer then later revealed that it really was an Easter Egg, proving the fan-speculations correct.

“Basically, the reason why I exit that way is I kind of wanted to give them a subliminal hint that I may be leaving the Eras Tour era, but I was also entering a new era.” Taylor shared.

Unknowing to its significance, the color orange has been shown multiple times throughout the tour–whether outfits or background—already hinting Swifties of what’s about to come.

“It feels like, kind of, energetically how my life has felt. And this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.” Taylor shared when asked about the significance of the color orange.
