A total of 14,053 residents in Tagum City and New Corella, Davao del Norte, will receive PHP71.9 million in cash assistance via the DSWD-11 Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program from May 4 to 9.

In data sent to the Philippine News Agency, DSWD-11 said 6,391 beneficiaries in New Corella and 7,662 beneficiaries in Tagum City will receive PHP5,122 each.

The ECT program provides immediate, unconditional cash aid to families affected by disasters or emergencies, bridging the gap between initial relief and early recovery.

The agency said the assistance helps beneficiaries buy medicines, healthcare supplies, and nutritious food.

“The aid is given to families of farmers and other workers affected by the flooding caused by the shear line in February this year,” DSWD-11 said.

According to the agency, beneficiaries underwent a rigorous validation process conducted in coordination with the local government unit (LGU) to ensure the assistance reaches those most in need.

DSWD-11 said about 16,456 beneficiaries are expected to benefit from the program, with payout activities scheduled until May 16, 2026. (PNA)
