Plant the seeds of goodness in order to succeed. This was the advice of Senator Robinhood “Robin” C. Padilla to the youths of Basilan province after he took part in the Taguima Youth Congress there on Sunday.

In his speech at the Basilan National High School, Padilla stressed this is the key to success, aside from the youth congress’ focus on the environment, education, health, active citizenship, and peace-and-security.

Success sa pag-aaral mo, trabaho mo, pera, susunod lahat yan (Whether we are Muslims, Christians or belong to other religious groups, the most important thing is to have a good heart. The actions from the goodness of our hearts will attract good luck and success, whether it be in our studies, work or finance),” he said.

Kailangan ang ginagawa mong kabutihan ay babalik sa iyo yan at ginagawa mong pangit babalik sa iyo yan (Good luck will not come to you even if you’re the brightest or most well-schooled, so long as you continue to mistreat others. Believe it or not, our world needs good karma. The good or bad that you do will come back to you),” he added.

He cited as an example his nephew Daniel Padilla, who he said is now successful in his career because he treats everyone well, especially his parents and relatives.

Ke kaibigan ninyo, pamilya ninyo, kapatid ninyo, kamaganak ninyo, laging magtatanim kayo ng kabutihan sa kanila (So in your young age, remember to start planting the seeds of goodness now – whether it be with friends or family),” said Padilla.

Padilla likewise threw his full support behind the youth congress’ focus on the environment, education, health, active citizenship, and peace-and-security.

He particularly voiced 100-percent support for peace and security, which he credited for the rapid progress in Basilan. He noted Basilan progressed after armed groups there were neutralized.

Also, Padilla thanked Rep. Mujiv Hataman and his son, Board Member Ahmed Djaliv “Amin” Hataman, for inviting him to the event.
