The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Thursday said its “bakuna” (vaccination) center will allow the administration of a second Covid-19 booster shot to all eligible walk-in vaccinees.

In a statement, PRC Chairman and CEO, Senator Richard Gordon, urged those priority groups belonging to the health workers and senior citizens population, to avail of their second booster dose in PRC’s vaccination centers.

Vaccinees must bring any government-issued ID and vaccination cards, indicating that the first booster dose was given four months ago.

No scheduling of appointments is needed.

The administration of the Covid-19 jab to anyone shall be free of charge.

The PRC reiterated the Department of Health’s pronouncement that the second booster shot will serve as a “defense” and additional protection for the vulnerable populations from the waning immunity of two primary series of Covid-19 jabs against the dreaded Covid-19 infection.

The health authorities have been emphasizing that all Covid-19 vaccines are safe and effective.

The PRC said its vaccination efforts are part of its mandate “to augment humanitarian tasks to the government.”

To date, the PRC has already administered 1,176,151 doses of Covid-19 vaccines and boosters, fully vaccinating a total of 372,352 individuals while 92,712 doses were given as booster shots. (PNA)
