Quezon City residents and netizens opt to remain optimistic despite the rising number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections.

As of noontime Tuesday, the QC Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU) reported 11,071 active Covid-19 cases in the city.

Recoveries account for 91 percent or 126,622 of 139,047 total patients since last year.

Deaths remained at one percent or a total of 1,354.

Netizens are hopeful of better things ahead and want to focus on the recoveries.

“Mataas man bilang ng nagpositibo sa Covid, marami naman ang gumaling dito. ‘Wag po tayong mawalan ng pag asa, pasasaan ba’t makakawala din tayo sa krisis na ito (The number of positive cases may be high but more are recovering from the disease. Let us not lose hope. We can get out of this crisis),” Joanne Domingo posted at the QC Government Facebook page.

Some netizens also gave the city government thumbs-up icons for its efforts in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic while noting the need to take extra precautions by strictly following public health and safety standards.

“Kada araw may nadadagdagan na kaso ng Covid ang ating lungsod. Mabuti na lang maraming facilities dito sa QC para mapagdalhan sa kanila at magamot agad ang kanilang kalagayan. Kaya mas marami pa rin ang gumagaling sa QC, pero dapat pa rin mag-ingat para hindi pa rin tayo magkasakit ng Covid-19 (Everyday, more cases of Covid are added in our city. Fortunately, QC has many facilities where people receive treatment that is why many recover but we still have to take care of ourselves),” Erika May Cruz posted.

Others posted words of encouragement and enticed cooperation to beat the pandemic, specifically among the young people who are always out and are also prone to getting infected.

As of Monday, 50 areas are still under Special Concern Lockdown due to increasing cases.

Affected residents are given food packs and essential kits and subjected to swab tests while on 14-day quarantine. (PNA)
