Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte assured Monday that his office would continue handing out assistance to individuals whose jobs are affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“As you can see, it is still on-going, and our office continues to search for constituents who needed our assistance,” he said in an interview Monday.

The lawmaker said the priority sectors include the fisherfolk, hotel and restaurant waiters, coaches, persons with disabilities, bartenders, musicians, and therapists.

“We have a team from our office making the rounds, looking for sectors who were confronted with the challenges brought by this pandemic,” the lawmaker said.

As part of the lawmaker’s Covid-19 response, Duterte said his office is set to give out 300 tablets per barangay for students’ modular learning under his district.

“We are still looking for a budget of PHP18 million for this project, and we are hoping that there are those who will donate for this cause. As of now, we are still looking for a supplier who has lower price yet durable units,” Duterte said.

He said the project’s target beneficiaries are those in grade school and high school students who were enrolled in online classes.

“Our priority is those students whose parents are fisherfolks, who are most affected by the construction of coastal road,” Duterte assured, adding that educational materials will also be provided to preschool learners. (PNA)
