The office of Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte distributed on Monday over 150,000 face shields to 54 barangays under the first district and to the 33 barangays with high cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a statement, the lawmaker’s office said the distribution will be completed within the week.

Duterte’s office also said that distribution aims to respond to the surge of the Covid-19 cases in the city.

“Please wear it (face shield) properly. This is not used to cover your head but this is to cover your face,” Duterte was quoted as saying, reminding Dabawenyos to always practice the minimum health standards.

The Philippines ranks 25th in the number of confirmed cases worldwide.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the Philippines’ coronavirus tally rose to 396,395 on Sunday (Nov. 8), in which 2,442 new infections had been recorded following the data from the 13 laboratories nationwide. (PNA)
