The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) kick-started an information drive in various localities across the country to educate Filipinos about the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), particularly the ePhilID and PhilSys Check.

Residents from different barangays in Dipolog City attended the information drive on ePhilID and PhilSys Check held at the Dipolog Sports Complex.

The initiative—which involves a house-to-house activity and a program proper—focused on informing residents about the ePhilID, which has the same functionality and validity as the PhilID whether printed or downloaded, and the use of PhilSys Check, a tool that can verify the authenticity of the PhilID or ePhilID.

Registration and ePhilID issuance services were also offered to all attendees of the program.

As of 24 November 2023, the PSA has conducted information drive in Antipolo City, Rizal; Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte; Legazpi City, Albay; San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan; Iloilo City, Iloilo; San Juan, La Union; Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur; and Catbalogan City, Samar.

“Since PhilSys now boasts of 81 million registered persons, we are intensifying our information and education activities to reach more Filipinos and encourage them to fully utilize the benefits of being PhilSys-registered,” said PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General.

“Through these activities, we want to let every registered person know that they can enjoy the benefits of being PhilSys-registered. This includes being able to experience more efficient and safer transactions through the ePhilID as a valid proof of identity, and the PhilSys Check, a verification tool that can check whether a PhilID or ePhilID is authentic,” he added.

Upcoming locations for the information drive on ePhilID and PhilSys Check include Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Tagum City, Davao del Norte; and Kidapawan City, Cotabato.

Registered persons can check the availability of the ePhilID through the ePhilID Appointment System via https://appt.philsys.gov.ph and set an appointment to claim it at any PhilSys Registration Center. The ePhilID may also be downloaded through a secure link indicated in an official text message from the PSA.

In addition, PhilSys Check can be used by visiting verify.philsys.gov.ph using a smartphone or computer with a camera. To verify using PhilSys Check, users can simply scan the QR code of the PhilID or ePhilID.

As of 17 November 2023, 42,406,247 ePhilIDs have been issued to registered persons nationwide—1,312,047 of which have been downloaded.
