The Philippine Statistics Authority in Ilocos Norte has finalized the turnover of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) results to the provincial government of Ilocos Norte on Friday.

During a simple program held at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Renz Sanchez, officer-in-charge and chief statistical specialist of Ilocos Norte, said the baseline data will serve as a foundation for planning programs for local government units (LGUs), aimed at addressing the specific needs of their constituents.

To highlight the results, an extensive information campaign was launched early on at Northwestern University to educate local planners and decision-makers on harnessing the potential of CBMS data for more targeted and impactful programs and policies.

“Through the diligent efforts of the LGUs and the PSA, we have completed the turnover ceremonies for the data of the 23 LGUs in the province,” said Sanchez, noting that Ilocos Norte’s participation in the CBMS began in 2022 and is mandated under Republic Act 11315, also known as the CBMS Act.

Through the CBMS, local governments can gather current, accurate household socio-economic data, providing leaders with reliable information for evidence-based policies and programs.

“This local information is the key to identifying the most vulnerable populations in our communities, designing programs that truly address specific localized needs, and monitoring the progress of our development goals with precision,” Sanchez said.

He urged LGUs to optimize data utilization for the people’s welfare while building sustainable communities and changing lives.

The LGUs in the province have also expressed their gratitude to the PSA, emphasizing the importance of the CBMS in shaping programs and projects that directly address the needs of the people. (PNA)
