Pres. Duterte implements a 2-week extension of the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) that was initially targeted to be lifted on April 14, spokesperson of the COVID-19 task force Karlo Nograles confirms via online press briefing.

“Pagkatapos ng kanyang announcement ay vinerify po namin ulit at ang sagot po ay, ang enhanced community quarantine is hereby extended until 11:59pm of April 30,” Nograles said.

Lockdown measures shall be observed until April 30 at 11:59 pm. This includes continuous adherence to the quarantine protocols such as probation to leaving houses (maximum of 1 person per family) as well as social distancing outdoors.

On the other hand, Visayas and Mindanao are not going to be affected by the lockdown extension.

The proposed extension of ECQ was backed by VP Leni along with Senators Gatchalian, Hontiveros, and Go.

As of April 7, DOH has reported 3,660 cases of COVID-19 including 163 deaths, and 73 recoveries.
