On Android and iOS, Pokémon UNITE, the franchise’s first multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, is now available for download and play.

Tencent’s Pokémon-themed MOBA game first debuted on Switch in the summer, while the mobile version was released a few months later.

Masaaki Hoshino, the game’s producer, highlighted the new features in a statement on the game’s official website, starting with seamless cross-platform compatibility and account linking between mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch.

In Pokémon Unite, two teams of five players battle to capture Pokémon and collect points. Unite Squads have also been added to the game, allowing Trainers to partner up with squad members.

Typically, the objective is to obliterate the enemy team’s base. Players can accomplish this by assembling a team of characters, each with their own special skills, which players use to slowly destroy towers and level up, allowing them to advance into their opponent’s area. It’s a genre that rewards both wise judgments and quick reactions.

Many of these features can be found in Unite, including a diverse array of monsters to pick from. For example, Charmander is an excellent all-around melee combatant, but Venasaur is superior at ranged attacks. Support characters and defensive characters are both available. Many of the monsters will evolve throughout the duration of the fight, which is a unique take. And, because the games are just five to ten minutes long and have simple mechanics, it doesn’t hurt to lose, at least at first.

Pokémon Unite offers the user plenty of time and space to learn the fundamentals, and even if they don’t, no one can shout at them because communication is disabled.

The game is now available for download on the App Store and Google Play store.
