The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday opened another quarantine facility for police personnel and their dependents in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas said Wednesday the basketball court ward of the Kiangan Emergency Treatment Facility (KETF) has a 96-bed capacity, 16 cubicle shower-rest room/donning-doffing area, and other amenities for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients.

This is the third quarantine facility installed inside Camp Crame, as the PNP Health Service continues to manage active cases of Covid-19 among police personnel.

“This initiative is still part of the organization’s Biosafety Plan, helping our personnel to have a place where they can stay without worrying about infecting their family members as well as the rental fee and their meal while in quarantine,” he said.

The whole Kiangan complex has been converted into quarantine facilities with a 266-bed capacity.

Sinas, in a separate interview, said the facility is also equipped with oxygen tanks for patients complaining of shortness of breath, Wi-Fi connection, and shower rooms.

He added that the PNP facility is similar to quarantine facilities previously constructed by the national government.

As of Tuesday night, another 176 PNP personnel have recovered from Covid-19.

This brings the total number of recoveries in the police force to 17,986.

Meanwhile, another 122 cases were also reported with 115 classified as new infections and seven as reinfections.

This raised the PNP’s total number of Covid-19 cases to 19,850, with 1,809 active cases and 55 deaths. (PNA)
