The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it is ready to mobilize its assets to help deliver coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines to far-flung regions of the country.

This came as President Rodrigo Duterte, in his public address on Wednesday, ordered the police and the military to provide all the necessary support to local government units, particularly in the delivery of vaccines and mobilization of other resources.

In a statement Thursday, PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the Directorate for Logistics and other concerned police units are prepared to deploy air, land, and sea assets and other transport resources for the safe delivery of Covid-19 vaccine doses.

“I already directed the police regional directors to coordinate with local chief executives to discuss the logistics of the vaccine delivery. Akin rin silang inatasan na mag-deploy ng karagdagang personnel na tututok dito sa deliveries ng bakuna (I also ordered them to deploy additional personnel to keep tight watch on the deliveries),” he added.

Eleazar guaranteed that police air, land, and sea assets are ready for use in transporting Covid-19 vaccines to various provinces and municipalities, especially localities in far-flung areas. (PNA)
