A poor farming family in a remote Tabucbuc village in Marcos, Ilocos Norte is still in awe as they gazed at their newly transplanted rice field which was done in an instant with the help of uniformed personnel.

Over the weekend, Jimmy Macalipis, 59, a widower with 11 children, has been contemplating on how he could finish transplanting his 2,000 square meter-rice field. It could have been easier if her wife is still alive as they used to work in tandem at the farm. Unfortunately, her wife succumbed to stroke last March and his life has never been the same.

He said someone up there may have listened to his suffering by sending angels disguised in police uniforms to help him and his children at the rice field.

“Our heartfelt gratitude to the Ilocos Norte 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) for their helping hand in times of need. We never thought they could go the extra mile to help us,” said JenJen Macalipis Dumlao, one of the children, on Monday.

The Ilocos Norte 2nd PMFC was led by Major Jayson Batuyong, who said it is an honor to be of service to people in need.

“We are delighted that you value our little help. We hope that what we planted will yield good harvest in the future,” said the acting force commander in their official Facebook account.

As part of their outreach programs, the police community in Ilocos Norte is active in various social services such as coastal clean-ups, tree planting, gift-giving and feeding programs, among others.

Marcos town used to be infiltrated by communists. But with the Duterte administration’s continuous efforts to end the insurgency problem, some considered “white areas” in the province had been neutralized.

A “white area” means there are supporters of the local terrorist group in the area.

Last year, some 30 residents from Barangay Cacafean of Marcos town have denounced their allegiance to the communist, making it a peaceful village since then. (PNA)
