Amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic when people have showed different levels of love and care for themselves and others, the Philippine Postal (PHLPost) Corporation launched here Thursday its special Valentine’s Day stamps that depict the Filipinos’ resilience and eagerness to move forward.

Norman Fulgencio, Postmaster General of the PHLPost, in a message during the event at the Melvin Jones football field in Burnham Park, said: “The eight heart stamps that express feelings or emotions are: Titibok pa rin, nagmamahal pa rin, lalaban pa rin, nagmamalasakit pa rin, titibok pa rin para sa bayan, buo pa rin at lumalaban pa rin (still beating, loving, fighting, caring, concerned for the country, whole and persistent).”

He said the designs for 2022 Valentine’s Day Stamps celebrate the hearts that are hurting, which is often set aside in Valentine celebrations, as people always look at the day’s romantic aspect.

“These are the hearts that really matter,” Fulgencio noted.

He said Valentine’s Day celebrates the bond and relationship between people and teaches how different kinds of love must be expressed.

“Confronted with difficulties, some have lost their loved ones, many are struggling, feeling sad, scared, frustrated, and broken. The Post Office Valentine’s Day Stamp features broken hearts that are still willing to fight and love,” Fulgencio said. “Sa kabila ng pandemya, ang pusong Pinoy ay titibok pa rin (Despite the pandemic, the heart of the Filipinos will keep on beating).”

The PHLPost chief said the special stamps were launched in Baguio, being a place that is loved by many if not all, and people look forward to visiting again after almost two years of community quarantine, especially with the ones they love.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong, who was guest of honor during the launch, said: “What we are doing in Baguio is service bounded with love to make Baguio recover from the effects of the pandemic.”

He said the city holds a special place in the hearts of many people, so the local government continues to make it better for everyone to visit time and again. (PNA)
