The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday logged 849 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest single-day case count for 2021 due to low testing output over the weekend.

In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH also reported 2,393 new recoveries that reduced the country’s active cases to just 25,464.

Of the active cases, 59.1 percent listed as mild, 5.9 percent as asymptomatic, 4.9 percent as critical, 11.5 percent as severe, and 18.61percent as moderate.

“The 849 new cases reported today is largely due to the regular low testing output coming from the weekend. Last Sunday showed the lowest testing output this week,” the DOH said in a message to reporters.

The new infections increased the country’s total cases since pandemic started last year to 2,819,341, including the 2,748,069 who recovered from the dreaded disease.

Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 45,808 with 99 new deaths.

According to DOH data on Nov. 14, about 3.2 percent of 28,128 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

“About 19 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and, of these, 18 are recoveries. Moreover, 83 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.

All laboratories were operational on November 14 while six laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

The DOH said the six non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 0.8 percent of samples tested, and 0.7 percent of positive individuals based on data in the last 14 days.

To date, 34 percent of 3,700 intensive care unit beds, 29 percent of 20,400 isolation beds, 21 percent of 13,700 ward beds, and 22 percent of 3,200 ventilators are utilized by patients with Covid-19 nationwide.

Meanwhile, 33 percent of 1,300 intensive care unit beds, 27 percent of 4,800 isolation beds, 25 percent of 4,000 ward beds, and 22 percent of 1,000 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use in Metro Manila. (PNA)
