The Department of Health on Tuesday said a total of 33,099,392 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have already been administered since the jab rollout started in March.

As of August 29, it said around 19,314,711 of the total doses were administered as first dose while the 13,784,681 were fully vaccinated.

The DOH said the average daily administered doses in the last seven days is 387,176 in 1,821 vaccination sites.

Among the priority population, around 1,947,635 healthcare workers have been fully vaccinated while 2,360,067 have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Meantime, around 2,386,499 workers belonging to essential sectors have been fully vaccinated while 6,272,075 have received their first shot of vaccine.

For the senior citizens, a total of 3,928,126 have been fully vaccinated and 3,366,423 are partially vaccinated.

Some 5,048,242 persons individuals with comorbidities have received their two doses while 5,380,738 have received their first dose.

It said 474,179 poor people are now fully vaccinated and 1,935,408 were given their first dose.

In an online media briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said there is still not enough scientific evidence proving the need for booster shots for those who have completed two doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

“Until we can get sufficient evidence for this kind of practice like booster shots, we can’t recommend,” she said.

“Secondly, equity component, when we have booster shots now that the supply of vaccines is still unstable, we will be disenfranchising those who have not received any dose of vaccine yet,” she added. (PNA)
