The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Friday turned over medicines to the city government here, the city’s public information office said.

According to a statement, PCSO general manager Royina Garma personally handed over the donations worth PHP150,000 to Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) administrator Ma. Yvonne Cania in a simple ceremony at the Cebu City Hall.

Garma also gave out medicines and food packs to some beneficiaries from different localities here.

“A ceremonial turnover occurred today which benefits the indigent and less privileged residents of Cebu City,” the statement read in Cebuano.

Lawyer Mary Rose Lubino, chief of staff at the office of Mayor Edgar Labella, thanked the PCSO for the support to the city’s health care program for its constituents.

Garma said the PCSO has always been willing to assist LGUs in their health care system needs.

The PCSO is a government-owned and controlled corporation under the supervision of the Office of the President.

The office is mandated to do fundraising and provide funds for health programs, medical assistance and services, and charities of national character.

The raised collections go to the Presidential Social Fund to improve the country’s social welfare services. (PNA)
