Operations in all ports in the Bicol Region, particularly those along the route going to Masbate province, are back to normal, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Tuesday.

In an interview on Tuesday, PCG-5 commander Commodore Ivan Roldan said nine vessels are available daily to and from Masbate with an estimated 155 rolling cargoes per day.

“We are monitoring all ports going to Masbate province to ensure that all assistance will not be delayed. For Masbate, we have Mintac, Mobo, Masbate, Cawayan, Cataingan and Aroroy ports. All are operational,” Roldan said.

Aside from ensuring the smooth flow of roll-on/roll-off, the PCG provided two water purifiers and desalination to the provincial government of Masbate.

The equipment is capable of producing up to 10,000 liters of potable water per day, with the two units having a combined capacity of 20,000 liters per day.

More than 100 PCG personnel are deployed with the provincial disaster risk reduction management council, Roldan added.

“They are helping in clearing, relief operations and distribution of family food packs in different areas in Masbate,” he said. (PNA)
