The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Tuesday broke ground for the construction of a hospital and a first responder and nursing service facility in Taguig City.

The PCG said the construction of the PCG General Hospital is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s commitment to boosting the welfare, readiness, and overall well-being of uniformed personnel.

“These infrastructure projects represent a transformative step toward providing accessible, high-quality medical care with modern medical facilities equipped to deliver comprehensive, quality healthcare services to PCG personnel, their families, and civilians, especially during emergencies and disasters,” the PCG said in a statement.

The groundbreaking was led by PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, and Taguig City Councilor Darwin Icay at ML Quezon Boulevard, New Lower Bicutan, in Taguig.

During the event, the PCG Medical Service thanked Gavan and other project partners for their support.

“This milestone is a testament to the PCG’s continued growth and development, ensuring that every Coastguardian remains strong in service, safe in health,” it said.

Other PCG units that showed support for the project include the PCG Dental Service, PCG Nursing Service, PCG Infrastructure Development Service, and other partner agencies. (PNA)
