President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision for the country aligns with the goals for Mindanao’s sustainable development and progress, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Leo Tereso Magno said.

Magno issued the statement Monday after the President delivered his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) that emphasized infrastructure development, economic recovery, and social services that resonate with their mission in MinDA.

“We are particularly encouraged by his focus on agricultural development and support for local industries. These initiatives are vital for empowering our farmers and local entrepreneurs, ensuring that the benefits of progress reach even the most remote communities,” he said.

Magno said the President’s commitment to enhancing connectivity, improving public services, and fostering economic growth is crucial for the inclusive development of Mindanao and its people.

Magno underscored that big Mindanao projects such as the MalMar Irrigation System, the Panguil Bay Bridge, and the Guicam Bridge Project exemplify the kind of infrastructure advancements that will significantly boost connectivity and economic activity in Mindanao.

“These initiatives are not just infrastructure improvements; they are lifelines that will link communities, open markets, and enhance the quality of life for countless Mindanaoans. We look forward to working closely with President Marcos Jr. and his administration in the coming years to achieve our shared vision for a brighter future for all Filipinos,” the MinDA chief added.

Further, Magno said the President’s decision to ban Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) in the country demonstrates his commitment to safeguarding the nation’s moral and social fabric.

“MinDA stands ready to support and collaborate with the national government in implementing these initiatives,” he said. (PNA)
