President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday announced that the Office of the President will be granting PHP15 million to a hospital located at the Baseco Compound in Manila.

Marcos made the announcement during his visit to the President Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital, also known as Baseco Hospital.

In his speech, Marcos lauded the hospital for accommodating around 7,000 patients since it opened on Sept. 6.

“Nakita natin na napakahalaga ng serbisyo, lalung-lalo na kapag ang pinag-uusapan ay ang ating mga kababayan. Bawat araw, more or less 20 pasyente ang dumadaan dito. Kaya marami talagang nagiging beneficiary dahil sa magandang health care (We have seen how important this service is, especially when it concerns our fellow Filipinos. Every day, more or less 20 patients come here. That is why many truly benefit from the good health care provided here),” he said.

“Sabi ko tulungan naman natin. Kaya mula sa Tanggapan ng Pangulo, dadagdagan po namin ang suporta ng PHP15 milyon para sa Baseco Hospital. Makakatulong po ito sa mga pangangailangan ninyo (I said let’s help. So, from the Office of the President, we will add PHP15 million in support for Baseco Hospital. This will help with your needs),” Marcos added.

The President Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital is the seventh district hospital of the Manila city government and serves residents of Baseco Compound, one of the city’s most vulnerable communities.

The three-story hospital was built to cater to the needs of an estimated 80,000 residents.

The 50-bed hospital is equipped with an emergency room, digital X-ray, centralized oxygen supply line, and full departments for maternity, pediatrics, surgery and internal medicine.

Marcos commended the strong coordination between the local and national governments to further strengthen the healthcare system in the city of Manila.

“Lahat nang ginagawa ng national government sa lahat ng ating kababayan, iyan ay hindi maaaring mangyari kung hindi matibay ang koordinasyon, pagsasama, pagtutulungan ng local government at national government. Kapag nangyari yan, nakita ninyo ang nagiging resulta (Everything the national government does for our fellow Filipinos would not be possible without strong coordination, unity and cooperation between the local and national governments. When that happens, you can see the result),” he said.

He also praised Mayor Isko Moreno for allocating public funds to modernize health facilities and procure new medical equipment. (PNA)
