President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called for stronger global cooperation to advance women’s rights and remove barriers limiting opportunities for women and girls.

Marcos made the call during his speech at the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York City.

He said the work of the commission remains vital in addressing the challenges faced by women worldwide.

“Even as we take pride in this progress, we recognize that the journey toward full equality — both in our country and around the world — is far from complete,” Marcos said.

Marcos lamented that many women continue to face discrimination and inequality.

He said violence against women and limited access to opportunities remain major concerns in many societies.

“Across many societies, women still face barriers that limit their opportunities,” he said.

Marcos stressed the importance of collaboration among governments, institutions, and international organizations to address challenges confronting women.

He affirmed the Philippines’ commitment to working with other nations in advancing initiatives aimed at empowering women.
