The Pasay city government on Wednesday started the distribution of financial assistance to public school students.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said around 7,361 elementary and secondary students will benefit from the provision of cash assistance worth PHP3,000.

The cash aid covers the PHP1,000 monthly allowance from October to December of the school year 2020-2021, aimed at helping students with their daily expenses amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

The distribution will run until Saturday in various public schools in the city — Bernabe Elementary School, Epifanio Delos Santos Elementary School, Rafael Palma Elementary School, Maricaban Elementary School, and Pasay City North High School – Tramo.

Only parents or guardians of the students are allowed to claim the cash aid.

“Kaya naman po inaanyahan ko kayong lahat na ihanda at isumite na ninyo ang kailangang mga papeles upang sa ganoon ay makuha na ninyo ang inyong financial assistance (I am inviting everyone to prepare and submit all necessary documents to avail of the financial assistance),” Rubiano said in a Facebook live video.

She added that the city government also provides a PHP1,000 cash allowance for “poor and deserving” college students from both public and private schools.

“To facilitate the efficient distribution, principals of the concerned schools are advised to plan with representatives of the barangay and ensure that precautionary measures against Covid-19 are strictly observed,” she said.

The city government is also coordinating with various schools and village officials to arrange other schedules of cash aid distribution which is seen to benefit a total of 60,000 students. (PNA)
