The municipal government here on Thursday launched an online service system that will provide residents with convenient, fast, and efficient ways of transacting their business permits, real property taxes, and other payment systems.

During the program launch, Mayor Noel Anthony Geslani said the initiative is a significant improvement in the local government unit (LGU) that aims to ease doing business for the residents.

“The residents could pay their real property taxes, business taxes, or renew their business permits or apply for new business permits wherever they are as long as they have connectivity,” he said in an interview.

Residents just need to access online.malasiqui.gov.ph to transact online.

The LGU Malasiqui’s online service system is powered by Lexsys Technologies Incorporated and the Landbank of the Philippines.

Geslani said the system will enable the residents to save time, effort, and money and will also prevent “red tape” given that the computation of payables will be done by the system itself.

“With this, the taxes to be collected by the LGU will also increase,” he said.

Assistant municipal treasurer Catherine Mejia said they are expecting a 10 percent increase in the revenue of the town with the implementation of the online system.

Lexsys Technologies Incorporate chief executive officer Marietta Dakanay said the transaction via the system will be a seamless interface as all the processes will take place via online or digital platforms, including the payments.

She said payments may be made through almost all BancNet members, and digital payment platforms such as PayMaya, among others.

A minimal fee of PHP7 to PHP17 per transaction depending on the bank will be charged to the user.

Department of Trade and Industry Pangasinan provincial director Natalia Dalaten said this will be beneficial to the LGU and the residents, including the micro, small, and medium enterprises.

“The pandemic enabled the LGUs to see the importance of innovation, online services, and the need to be adaptable to the times. Through this system, reports could be easily generated as well as the number of businesses,” she said. (PNA)
