A comprehensive healthcare program for public school teachers here will soon be implemented to protect their welfare and well-being.

The City Government of San Fernando, the City Schools Division and Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) have partnered with pharmaceutical company Unilab, Inc., to bring the “3SK: Safe Schools, Safe Kids” program, also known as “AKAP Guro”.

The partnership was formally sealed on Thursday at the JBLMGH here following the signing of the project’s memorandum of agreement.

The “3SK” will provide quarterly medical services to teachers, including check-ups, consultations and diagnostic services to be administered by various medical practitioners from the JBLMGH and Unilab.

Catering to the highest number of teaching force, the Pampanga High School and San Fernando Elementary School would be served first during the program’s pilot run and will later expand to more schools in the city.

City Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag said on Friday the program would not only provide healthcare to teachers but would serve as an avenue to come up with accurate and reliable information on the teachers’ health state.

Calauag assured that the city government would provide better and more efficient health services not only to the teachers but also to other residents.

“Health care is one of our priorities in our 10-point agenda,” she said in a radio program.

The mayor particularly cited her flagship programs such as the Fernandino Dialysis Center which offers free hemodialysis treatments and a universal health care program to cater to every marginalized sector of the city. (PNA)
