Residents of the Caraga region received more than PHP10.3 million worth of goods and pandemic essentials distributed by the different police stations and units during a series of Barangayanihan Help and Food Bank (Barangayanihan) activities.

In a statement on Wednesday, Police Regional Office 13 (Caraga) Director, Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said the goods and essentials were distributed from April 23 to June 12.

“All the police units in Caraga region have conducted 4,929 Barangayanihan activities during the period that benefited 236,023 Caraganons,” Caramat said.

He thanked the partnership and support provided by the different stakeholders, including the private sector in the region that made the activities successful.

The Barangayanihan activities are among the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) response of the government amid the continuing threat of the pandemic.

Caramat said while working in anti-criminality and anti-terrorism campaigns, the police officers and personnel in the region also carry out their moral obligation to extend help during a health crisis.

The different police units will continue to conduct Barangayanihan to reach out to more families in the region, he added.

The Barangayanihan was simultaneously launched nationwide last month. (PNA)
