The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said it is ready to provide cash assistance to families of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the 3 earthquakes that hit Mindanao.

“Yes, we will help OFW families gravely affected by the earthquakes. We are just determining the number of OFW families affected,” OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said in an interview.

“PHP3,000 for active members’ families in worst-hit areas. That’s it,” Cacdac said.

He said covered areas will still be subject to final determination in coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

At least 22 people died while many others injured when three successive strong earthquakes hit the southern part of the country in late October.

The tremors damaged infrastructure and other properties in parts of Mindanao including Cotabato. (PNA)
