Twelve children of active overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Caraga Region were provided with scholarship grants by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration-Caraga (OWWA-13).

In a statement Tuesday, the OWWA-13 said of the 12 OFW children, 11 were from Butuan City while one came from Barobo, Surigao del Sur.

On Monday, a total of PHP329,149 worth of scholarship grants were released to the OFW children under OWWA’s Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP).

“EDSP is a scholarship grant offered to qualified college dependents of active OWWA-members who are enrolled in a four to five-year baccalaureate course at any preferred colleges or universities,” the OWWA-13 said.

It added that the released amount was for the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year.

It pointed out that each OFW child who is granted a scholarship under the program has a total allocation of PHP60,000 per year divided into two semesters.

“Interested applicants to the EDSP may communicate with our office, particularly with the Education and Training Unit of OWWA-Caraga,” the OWWA-13 said. (PNA)
