Around 7,329 vacancies await hopeful jobseekers during the Labor Day job fair at the Robinsons Place (main) here on May 1.

“We have currently 79 employers and 7,329 job vacancies, both local and overseas. We have 69 local employers and 10 overseas employers. We are inviting our job seekers to register online,” officer-in-charge chief of the Technical Support and Services Division (TSSD) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Western Visayas Jorge Ferraris said in a press conference on Tuesday.

Among the top industries in the list of vacancies are administrative and support service activities, public administration and defense, compulsory social security, construction, wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, accommodation and food services, real estate and other service activities, and agriculture, forestry and fishing.

Ferraris said partner government agencies will have a one-stop shop to assist job seekers in case they need some documents in line with their applications.

DOLE will also release over PHP78.7 million for 13,131 beneficiaries of its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) workers across the region.

The department will also release more than PHP15.4 million for the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program and over PHP2 million for the DOLE Adjustment Measures Program.

Further, 315 beneficiaries will receive their stipend totaling PHP1.9 million under the Government Internship Program.

DOLE will also launch its TUPAD Tuloy Pasada Program targeting 75 beneficiaries for traditional jeepney drivers covering the Buntatala/Tagbak to City Proper route who are not included in the service contracting program of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

DOLE Western Visayas Assistant Regional Director Melisa Navara said the objective is to extend supplemental income to drivers so they will continue to provide public transport.

To qualify, they have to be in the list provided by the LTFRB, 18 years old and above, and with a valid professional driver’s license.

They will render six hours of service a day, from 6 a.m. to 12 noon or from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“They will receive the minimum wage per day of PHP550 and will be covered by the micro insurance,” she said.

Ahead of the celebration, the DOLE conducted a Labor Day run on April 25, which gathered over 700 runners. (PNA)
