More than 600 personnel from the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and hundreds of volunteers will be deployed at the various convergence areas in this city to assist the public and ensure law and order during the Holy Week.

Col. Ruel Tagel, BCPO director, said police deployment will be up during the summer vacation (SumVac), starting the first week of April.

“Additional police personnel will be tapped for possible deployment in the different identified convergence areas depending on the prevailing situation to ensure the safety and security of the public when attending the events lined up for this year’s SumVac,” he said.

Hundreds of volunteers from non-government organizations, emergency rescue and traffic operatives, including scouts, have been assigned in different areas, including the national highways leading to the city to assist the motorist who come in droves.

The city government and its partners have lined up a series of activities from March to May for the 2025 SumVac in Baguio.

These include the conduct of the Montanosa Film, Art Appreciation and Creative Workshop, Rillera’s Boutique Bazaar, Life in Color, Baguio Folk and Country Festival, Baguio Crafts Fair, Ibag-iw Creative Village every Fridays to Sundays of April and May.

The Araw ng Kagitingan will be held on April 9 at the Veterans Park, while Holy Week activities will start on April 13 in various churches with the traditional Palm Sunday Mass that will be followed by a series of religious activities from April 14, which will be capped by the Easter Sunday mass on April 20.

The Search for the Baguio-Benguet Lucky Summer Visitor will be held from April 17-20, where it will be capped by the traditional Easter Egg Hunt spearheaded by the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club.

The Baguio Dance Festival is slated on April 23-26; the 80th celebration of Baguio’s liberation is on April 27; the Department of Tourism-initiated 6th Mangan Tako Food Fair will be from April 24 to 28 at the Rose Garden, the annual Labor Day Jobs Fair will be held on May 1; and the annual celebration of the “Sabsabong ti Mayo (flowers of May) will be on May 11, which coincides with Mother’s Day and the flowers of May.
