The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the provincial government here have ready relief goods for distribution to families affected by the impact of the inclement weather.
During the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) on Thursday, DSWD reported it has 32,886 standby family food packs, while the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has 1,223 sacks of rice and around 3,000 canned goods that they can augment, in addition to the relief aid from the national government.
“We have already activated our quick response team (QRT),” PSWDO social worker Jason Alagos said.
The QRT will take charge of distributing the family food packs and assisting displaced families.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Broderick Train said they expect local government units to start pre-emptive evacuation on Thursday afternoon, as the province is experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.
A yellow rainfall warning is currently hoisted over Antique, with 7.5 millimeters (mm) to 15 millimeters per hour rain, but is forecasted to raise to an orange rainfall warning, with a rain volume of 15-30 mm per hour by Friday.
Super Typhoon Inday has been enhancing the prevailing southwest monsoon, bringing rains to this part of the country.
“We have already monitored the rise of water level in the major rivers of Antique such as Sibalom that pose an imminent threat to the lives of those in the riversides,” Alagos said. (PNA)
