More than 200 establishments in this city are now “safety seal”-certified since the program was launched here in June this year.

The number is expected to grow as the Business License and Permit Division (BLPD), which leads the implementation of the program in the city, has opened the online application for the seal.

“The program, apart from ensuring the implementation of minimum public health standards among establishments, also intensifies the adoption of StaySafe.PH application for more efficient contact tracing and likewise a way to safely reopen the economy,” BLPD chief Joseph Garcia said in an official social media post on Saturday.

Malls were among the first to gain certification in the list of 222 firms and establishments inspected for the program.

Other establishments included restaurants or fast-food chains, amusement centers, banks, fitness centers, and retailers, among others.

The establishments were certified after being rated for their public health standards compliance.

Dr. Carlos B. Mercado, the city health officer in charge and incident commander, said the safety seal is valid for six months from the date of issuance, except for those issued to tourism enterprises which shall be valid for one year
.
Mercado said the safety seal is renewable as long as the establishment sustained strict compliance with minimum public health standards and other eligibility requirements.

This may be also revoked by the issuing authority or due to a valid complaint, he added.

Meanwhile, City Local Government Operations officer Marites Quillope has urged other business establishments to apply for the safety seal for the reopening of the city’s economy. (PNA)
