The Department of Health in Bicol (DOH-5) reported on Monday that a total of 1,120 health workers in the region have received their coronavirus disease (Covid-19) compensation.

In a statement, the agency said the compensation is granted to all eligible public and private healthcare workers (HCWs) and non-HCWs in health facilities who contracted Covid-19 and/or died in the line of duty.

“A PHP15,000 was awarded to each mild and moderate case, PHP100,000 to severe or critical, and PHP1 million was given to families of health workers who died due to Covid-19,” it said.

Among the 1,120 health workers who were granted compensation in Bicol, 1,108 had mild Covid-19 infection, five were severe, and seven had died.

DOH-Bicol thanked all health workers for their sacrifices amid the pandemic. It also wished them health and safety at all times.

“Health workers are reminded to religiously follow the health and safety protocols, especially on duty,” DOH-5 added. (PNA)
