Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso said the city government has achieved a benchmark of 10,000 vaccinees after more than 2,000 additional front-liners received Covid-19 jabs on Wednesday.
“Ang (The) good news, today is the largest and the biggest vaccination,” Domagoso said in Facebook live.
As of 6 p.m., he said a total of 10,412 Manila front-liners have been inoculated with AstraZeneca and Sinovac’s CoronaVac vaccines.
Domagoso said the city government followed the A1.1 to A1.7 category under the prioritization policy of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Department of Health (DOH).
He said the A1.1 prioritization list includes the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel, the barangay health emergency response team (BHERT), the social workers, personnel of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO), those who deliver the food assistance, and other healthcare workers.
“Kami ay hindi pa kasama under prioritization policy na A1.1 to A.1.7. I’m happy for those people na nabakunahan na at meron pang pailan-ilan na mga doctor at nurses na hindi bakunado sapagkat yung brand na gusto nila ay hindi pa available (We are not yet included under the prioritization policy of A1.1 to A.1.7. I’m happy for those people who have already received the vaccine, we still have some doctors and nurses who have not received yet the vaccine because they prefer other brands that are still not available),” Domagoso said.
Domagoso thanked the personnel, encoders, and vaccinators of the Manila Health Department (MHD) for a job well done in the ongoing vaccination program at the Sta. Ana Hospital and the Ospital ng Maynila.
He expressed optimism that the city will be able to inoculate at least 1,000 people in each 18 vaccination sites that will be utilized once the Covid-19 vaccines that the city purchased become available.
“Kung yun ay tama at maachieve, magkakaroon tayo ng 18,000 vaccinated individuals, times 30 days kasi hindi tayo magpapahinga pag nadyan na yung bakuna, pati Sabado at Linggo (If we are able to achieve that, we will have 18,000 vaccinated individuals times 30 days because we will be operating even on Saturday and Sunday) so that we can reach 540,000 people in one month,” Domagoso said.
Like other local government units, Manila received share from the 600,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines donated by Chinese and from 525,600 AstraZeneca jabs the country received through WHO’s COVAX Facility.
