The distribution of food packs for at least 10,487 households in the Surigao del Sur town of Cantilan is set to start Tuesday (Dec. 15).
“I am reminding everyone that the food packs will be delivered to every household,” Cantilan town Mayor Carla Lopez-Pichay said in an announcement Monday.
Pichay said the local government is targeting 10,487 families to receive the food packs.
The distribution to every household in all of the town’s 17 barangays aims to protect the residents from the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), she said
“There is no need for the residents to go to the barangay office to get the food packs. These will be delivered directly to their homes,” Pichay said.
Cantilan municipal administrator Vincent Dueñas told the Philippine News Agency Monday that each food pack contains five kilos of rice, assorted canned goods, sachets of cereals, coffee, milk, and pouches of noodles.
Dueñas said the distribution will start in Barangays Bugsukan, Tapi, and Palasao, involving 765 families, and will continue until Dec. 23.
He said the distribution of food packs is part of the local government’s “Pamaskong Handog 2020” to its residents. (PNA)
