More than 100 percent of the National Capital Region (NCR)’s target eligible population are now fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease (Covid-19), according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday.

In an interview, MMDA chairperson Benjamin Abalos Jr. said Metro Manila has a 9.8 million eligible population for Covid-19 vaccination.

“For me, that’s more than upper protection,” he said.

Abalos cited that high vaccination turnout is one of the greatest factors as to why the Covid-19 cases in Metro Manila continue to go down.

He cited the unified Covid-19 response strategies of NCR mayors effectively implemented.

“Pagkakaisa ng (Unity among members of the) Metro Manila council. We only have one goal, na nakadepende sa sinasabi ng (that is dependent on the advice of the) medical experts,” he said.

He also said mayors of the Metro Manila council have agreed to augment the vaccination of its neighboring provinces by deploying healthcare workers. (PNA)
