The volume of passengers who traveled via the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) during “Undas” (All Saints’ Day) had a mere increase of 2.81 percent.

Data obtained by the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Tuesday showed there were 1,427,805 domestic and international passengers at NAIA from October 25 to November 4, slightly higher than the 1,388,748 passengers in the same period last year.

International passengers’ volume had an 8.22 percent increase, or 767,853 passengers compared to 709,549 in 2018.

Domestic passengers’ volume declined by 2.83 percent, from 679,199 in 2018, to 659,952 this year.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Ed Monreal earlier said he was expecting an 11 percent increase in passenger volume, as this is the average yearly increase that the country’s main gateway has recorded.

MIAA’s data showed NAIA has welcomed 1,388,748 international and domestic passengers from October 27 to November 9, 2018, an 11.11-percent increase from 1,249,848 passengers in 2017.

Both the international and domestic passengers’ volume have increased last year.

International passengers’ volume in 2018 reached 709,549, up 10.46 percent from 642,374 international passengers in the previous year.

Domestic passengers in 2018 have increased by 11.81 percent from the 607,474 domestic passengers in the same period in 2017. (PNA)
