Members of the police force are now free from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as it did not log any new cases as of Tuesday, based on the latest bulletin released by Philippine National Police (PNP) Health Service.

Based on records, the PNP recorded a total of 48,861 total number of Covid-19 cases since its outbreak, with 48,732 personnel who fully recovered from the disease while 129 died due to medical complications associated with Covid-19 infection.

“Despite the threats posed by this lethal virus, the PNP did not falter in performing its duty to serve and protect the people,” PNP Chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said in a statement.

“But this unseen enemy can still be everywhere, so let me remind our 224,362 PNP strong force to still protect themselves, maintain a healthy body, boost their immune system, and regularly submit to medical check-ups. There is no room for complacency,” Carlos said.

PNP active cases dropped sharply in February after they peaked at 4,964 on January 14, 2022, a day after it logged 547 new cases.

Meanwhile, fully vaccinated members of the police force were placed at 99.59 percent or equivalent to 223,451 personnel out of the 224,362 on the roster.

Those awaiting a second dose are at 0.19 percent or 421 while those unvaccinated are at 0.22 percent or 490.

PNP personnel who got a booster or third shot are now at 96.43 percent or 215,479. (PNA)
