The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) – Davao Region has further strengthened market linkages for local agricultural producers through its annual “PalitAni sa Onse” trade fair.

The two-day event, which began Tuesday, allows Dabawenyos to buy fresh produce and products directly from farmer-beneficiaries across the region’s provinces.

In his speech, NIA-Davao Manager Dexter Sablaon said the event, which is in its fourth year, is a regional implementation of the national “KADIWA sa NIA program” and part of the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) initiative.

He highlighted that the initiative gives local farmers and irrigators’ associations (IAs) a platform to present fresh, high-quality agricultural yields directly to the public at fair and affordable prices.

“Now, we are giving our IAs the opportunity to deliver fresh, high-quality products directly to the public at reasonable and affordable prices,” Sablaon said, adding that the booths are a true reflection of a “Feast of Abundance.”

“Every product displayed here is not merely for sale, but represents the harvest of hard work and hope,” he said.

Looking ahead, Sablaon expressed hope for the trade fair’s long-term sustainability, calling on the public to continue supporting local food producers and regional irrigation infrastructure initiatives.

“We hope that PalitAni sa Onse will continue far beyond its fourth year, reaching even more people who will enjoy our products and support our farmers and irrigation projects. To our farmers, thank you for your hard work and dedication,” he said.
