To further improve services for its residents, the city government held a ceremonial turnover of 22 newly acquired vehicles and various equipment on Wednesday.

In his message, Mayor Sebastian Duterte said the acquisition of the new vehicles and equipment demonstrates the local government’s commitment to reinvesting public funds into beneficial projects for both Dabawenyos and visitors.

“This will significantly bolster the response capability of our safety and security cluster, enabling them to more effectively discharge their duties to protect the lives, properties, and livelihoods of the public,” Duterte said.

The new fleet includes essential vehicles, such as firetrucks, rubber boats, tractors, patient transport vehicles, incident command vehicles, and general emergency response vehicles.

In December last year, the city also transferred 38 disaster and emergency response vehicles, funded through the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund and the Annual Development Fund.

In 2024, the city’s Central 911 was inducted into the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s Hall of Fame during the 22nd Gawad KALASAG (KAlamidad at Sakuna LAbanan, SAriling GAling ang Kaligtasan) Special Awards, recognized as the Best Government Emergency Management Response Team.
