The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region’s (DSWD-13) newly completed two-story multipurpose building in Barangay 4, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, will directly benefit 232 households or around 1,050 residents.

The PHP19.9-million facility was constructed under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program.

In a statement Friday, DSWD-13 said the building will serve as a hub for social, cultural, and economic activities, fostering community development and empowerment.

DSWD-13 Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga and Benjamin Salvador, chairperson of the Barangay Development Council-Technical Working Group, led the turnover ceremony Thursday.

“May this building inspire us to aim higher, work harder, and continue building a brighter future for our barangay. Let it serve as a reminder of the power of unity, hard work, and a shared vision,” Salvador said.

The KALAHI-CIDSS program, a government poverty alleviation initiative, employs a community-driven development (CDD) approach, a globally recognized strategy for improving service delivery, reducing poverty, and promoting good governance. (PNA)
