The ongoing shooting of the Netflix series “A Love to Kill” has brought business and employment in Iloilo province and in this city.

City Tourism Operations Officer Florence King H. Erlano, in an interview on Tuesday, said the filming crew rent equipment, pay for private locations, employ local cast and crew, and pay for food and accommodations.

“In the long run once the series will be released, the impact will be mostly on the tourism sector, especially that it is an international streaming platform,” Erlano said.

“Love to Kill” will be a remake of a 2005 South Korean television drama based on a Japanese manga.

The Netflix series stars Filipino actor Ian Veneracion.

Erlano cited that many people have taken interest in Sagada, Mountain Province when it was featured on the same platform.

“We are hoping to have the same effect in Iloilo, especially that at this time we encourage more visitors,” he said.

Locations for the shoot in Iloilo City were the Ker and Company building, Museum of Philippine Economic History, Iloilo Esplanade, Iloilo Business Park, Lizares Mansion, provincial capitol ground, restaurants, and other private places.

In the province, the series already filmed part of the show in the cemetery of the municipality of Janiuay, and Happy Farm in Pototan.

This week they are filming in Bucari Pine Forest in the municipality of Leon.

“One precaution is that they do not announce ahead of the shoot their venue for minimal exposure to the public,” he added.

The city government also provided the cast and crew with free reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test to ensure they are safe from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Coordination for the series shoot took place as early as December last year.

The cast and crew arrived on March 12 and will be filming the series until April 5, 2022.

“The target is for the series to be shown on Netflix within the year although there is no definite date yet,” he added. (PNA)
